Boston Red Sox Encouraged to Pursue George Springer from Blue Jays for Offensive Strength

Boston Red Sox Urged to Sign Blue Jays 32-HR Star to Bolster Offense

The Boston Red Sox are advised to take an aggressive approach during the offseason. After reaching the playoffs in 2026, their season ended poorly with a sweep by the New York Yankees in the AL Wild Card series. It has become clear that Boston needs to enhance their roster, particularly by adding a power hitter.

According to an article by Patrick McAvoy for SI.com, the Red Sox should consider signing George Springer, a veteran star from the Toronto Blue Jays, as he could effectively address their need for offensive strength. Springer, who is 35 years old, posted 15 home runs and 54 RBI this past season, following a 2025 performance where he achieved 32 home runs and a .309 batting average. Despite a slight decline this season, his consistent ability to hit for power makes him a worthwhile consideration for Boston, especially if they pursue a short-term deal.
