New York Public Radio has announced the resignation of Christy Tanner, who has served as President and CEO for a duration of eight months. Tanner, who took the role in February, led the largest public radio station in the United States during a challenging period marked by a significant deficit and operational assessments following federal funding cuts.
The organization has stated that a three-person “temporary Office of the CEO” will be established to manage affairs until Tanner’s successor is appointed. This team will include Tanner’s predecessor LaFontaine Oliver, along with Jenna Weiss-Berman and Gary Knell, who collectively bring extensive experience in public media and journalism. Tanner expressed pride in her work and respect for her staff, indicating that she looks forward to her next endeavors.
