Federal Charges Filed Against Two Teens in Fatal Drugging and Assault of FIT Student

Federal charges have been filed against 19-year-old Moises Freire and 18-year-old Brian Peralta Cabrera concerning the drugging and sexual assault of two women at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Manhattan. According to the indictment, the incident took place in March when Freire allegedly provided fentanyl, misrepresented as cocaine, to the victims, leading them to lose consciousness immediately after use.

The indictment accuses Freire of raping one of the women and delaying contact with campus security for approximately 45 minutes while sending photos of the unconscious victims to friends. Tragically, one of the women died in a hospital soon after, while the other sustained severe injuries. FIT students expressed their grief over the situation, as the community continues to process the distressing event highlighted in a recent email from school officials.
