During a recent Michigan Senate debate, Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed did not categorize Iran as a more significant threat to the U.S. than Israel, prompting concern from Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA). Klein contended that American and Israeli leaders are failing to combat rising anti-Zionist sentiments, which he believes have infiltrated political discourse.
Klein criticized members of Congress such as Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, labeling them as leading figures of antisemitism while expressing disappointment in their lack of condemnation from the Democratic Party. He argued that this has allowed anti-Israel rhetoric to gain traction within elected offices, making the political environment more precarious, especially for the Jewish community. Klein emphasized the necessity for a strong, unified response to combat the threats against Israel and the Jewish people.
