Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) stated in an interview with MSNOW that she and her husband, Tim Mynett, are nearing financial disaster, claiming to live paycheck-to-paycheck while managing rent for two homes. In the same interview, she responded to a question about a previous marriage by stating, “Not to my knowledge.” Omar also indicated no misconduct in lowering her reported 2024 net worth from as high as $30 million to no more than $65,000, citing an “accounting error.”
However, her financial narrative contrasts sharply with the reality of her congressional benefits, such as $85,000 in taxpayer funds covering her Washington, D.C. housing, $33,000 for daily meals since 2023, and nearly $3 million in payments to her husband’s consulting firm, E Street Group, from her campaign. Mynett’s company gained $11.25 million from Indian billionaire Byju Raveendran in 2024.
This comes amid a federal investigation into her immigration history and financial disclosures. Omar criticized the investigation as a political attack led by former President Trump, who called for her resignation over alleged misconduct.
