Meet Knickson Fyve, the Baby Born to Die-Hard Knicks Fans

After the New York Knicks secured the NBA championship, Yvonne Gonzalez-Bradford was inspired to change the name she had initially chosen for her son. While she and her husband, Vance Bradford, had the names Lady Victoria for a girl and Prestige Wisdom for a boy, the celebratory atmosphere in Long Island City, where they live, led to a creative twist.
As chants of “Knicks in five!” echoed from outside their high-rise, Vance recounts how Yvonne proposed the name Knickson. Vance, a lifelong Knicks fan, embraced the idea enthusiastically. A few days later, Fyve emerged as a fitting choice for the middle name, symbolizing a connection to both Vance’s name and the Roman numeral five. Their son, Knickson Fyve Bradford, was born on August 8, 2026, on Yvonne’s birthday and weighing 8 pounds, 8 ounces, adding even more significance to his arrival.
Knickson’s family legacy with the Knicks is profound, as Vance’s mother, Sydell Johnson, served as the scorekeeper for the team during their last championship in 1973. Her passing brought sorrow in 2025 but was followed by the joyous birth of Knickson the next year. Vance humorously addressed concerns about his son’s loyalty, saying regardless of which team Knickson might support in the future, he would always be Knickson Bradford.
