Hellebuyck Trade Frontrunner Revealed as Deadline Approaches

With the Connor Hellebuyck trade deadline drawing closer, three teams have emerged as the most likely candidates for the Winnipeg Jets goaltender. During the recent episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the frontrunners, naming the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, and Utah Mammoth as the primary contenders. Friedman noted, “Buffalo has expressed interest in Hellebuyck, and he is open to joining them. The Rangers are an interesting case, as they may not be looking to acquire Hellebuyck directly.”

Friedman explained that the Rangers’ actions, especially in light of injury concerns for their goalie Igor Shesterkin, could trigger a series of events affecting Hellebuyck’s potential trade. He suggested that if the Rangers pursue a goalie like Utah’s Karel Vejmelka, it could set off a chain reaction leading to a Hellebuyck move. Furthermore, two other teams—the Carolina Hurricanes and LA Kings—were mentioned as less likely players in the trade discussion, with Friedman expressing doubt about the fit for either organization.
