Kyle Kennedy, the granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, has passed away at the age of 42. She died on September 21 at her residence in Massachusetts, as stated in an obituary published by Burke Funeral Homes. The cause of her death remains unknown at this time, according to reports.
Born on July 6, 1984, in Washington, D.C., Kennedy was raised in Cohasset, Massachusetts. She graduated from Milton Academy before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history from Georgetown University. Subsequently, she pursued advanced degrees in education, earning a master’s in early childhood education from Pace University and another in education policy and management from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Kennedy began her career with Teach for America, teaching in New York City public schools for two years, which ignited her passion for early childhood education and reform.
Throughout her career, she advocated for equitable education and worked on various educational reforms, including in collaboration with edtech companies and as a coach for primary school educators. A passionate long-distance runner, she participated in the Boston Marathon in 2019. Unfortunately, in 2020, she sustained a severe spinal cord injury that led to long-term paralysis and other health challenges. Following her injury, she became an advocate for disability rights, addressing healthcare discrimination issues in Massachusetts.
Kennedy is survived by her two sons, Conor and Declan, as well as her family members. Her father, Michael Kennedy, and her infant daughter, Josie, preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted privately.
