Philadelphia 76ers Face Setback Over Moussa Cisse Acquisition

The Dallas Mavericks have decided to keep Moussa Cisse, which poses a challenge for the Philadelphia 76ers in their pursuit of the young center who was available off waivers. Insider Marc Stein indicated that the Mavericks had considered waiving Cisse in favor of veteran Dwight Powell, but ultimately chose to release Powell instead.

After news of Powell’s release, other sources confirmed that Cisse would remain with the Mavericks. Although he will compete for playing time in a crowded frontcourt including Dereck Lively II, Santi Aldama, and others, the Sixers now face a depth issue at center. With a torn Achilles tendon sidelining free agent Ariel Hukporti, the team must rely on rookies and other untested players to support Joel Embiid. The Philadelphia 76ers are set to open their season against the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
