CAM’s Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) observed 36 distinct instances of calls for ‘intifada’ spanning 16 countries in the three weeks leading up to the October 7th anniversary of the 2020 massacre. Notably, a masked protester in Philadelphia held a sign advocating for ‘Long live the intifada,’ with accompanying chants of ‘Globalize the intifada!’ Meanwhile, in Frankfurt, Germany, banners displayed a rifle silhouette paired with the phrase ‘Intifada bis zum Sieg!’ meaning ‘Intifada until victory.’
Incidents also unfolded in Seattle, where the owners of a kosher eatery discovered ‘intifada’ scrawled over a red triangle associated with Hamas. The ARC recorded that 14 of these incidents coincided with the October 7th anniversary. The figure represents a minimum estimate, with further monitoring still ongoing. These calls for ‘intifada’ carry significant implications and reflect a concerning trend of incitement that poses risks to Jewish communities globally.
