FBI arrests Georgia man accused of throwing Molotov cocktail at Atlanta ICE facility

Federal officials took a 31-year-old resident of Georgia into custody on Thursday for reportedly launching a Molotov cocktail at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in downtown Atlanta earlier this week. Inique Hinton, who resides in Douglasville, faces charges of attempted arson of a federal structure and damaging government property, as indicated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.

U.S. Attorney Theodore Hertzberg condemned the incident as an act of terrorism during a press briefing, stating, “An attack on federal property is an attack against our democracy.” Security footage allegedly shows Hinton near the ICE location shortly before he threw the incendiary device, which caused flames to spread upon impact. Hinton was subsequently captured by the FBI at a Cobb County residence and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
