NFL Week 7 betting advice: Giants-Texans picks and props

Welcome to the betting insights for the New York Giants in Week 7! Each week, I will provide my top three preferred bets related to the Giants’ game. A guiding principle: no wagers below -120.

This week marks the third consecutive time the Giants find themselves as underdogs against a team with a poorer record. They enter this matchup against the Houston Texans, currently at 2-4, with a hefty spread of 10.5 points. This is the largest line for Week 7.

With J.J. McCarthy taking the helm as starting quarterback, the betting line saw a shift of approximately three points, showcasing public sentiment about his potential to perform better than his previous showing of 250 yards in a limited role against New Orleans.

The Texans, after an early 0-4 start, have claimed two consecutive victories. Although their defense hasn’t yet fulfilled expectations, quarterback C.J. Stroud is demonstrating improved play compared to his rookie year, which had its challenges in the playoffs.

In contrast, the Giants are struggling, holding a 0-1-1 record in their past two matches. While they are still in a position to lead the NFC East this week, they face significant injuries and a tough challenge ahead. I’ve tallied 11-7 on my picks this season, following a disappointing 1-2 week.

The current line shows Texans at -10.5, with an over/under of 43.5, both of which I recommend avoiding due to potential uncertainties involving the Giants’ changing quarterback situation.

Player props include taking the Texans’ first-half total points OVER 13.5 at -115, considering the Giants’ difficulties. Additionally, Marvin Harrison, Jr. is projected to exceed 2.5 receptions at -118, given his promising debut.

Conversely, I suggest taking J.J. McCarthy UNDER 200.5 passing yards at -114. Despite a strong previous game in garbage time, I expect challenges given his inexperience and the pressure from the Texans’ defense.

Good luck with your wagers this week!
