Giants Part Ways with Najee Harris Following Criticism of Coaches

The New York Giants are still in search of their primary running back, but they have decided against keeping Najee Harris. This decision came two days after Harris criticized the coaching staff’s offensive strategy following a game where he managed only four carries for two yards.
Harris, who was brought on during training camp due to Tyrone Tracy’s struggles, started on Sunday as Cam Skattebo did not perform well after a costly fumble the previous week. Skattebo only participated in six snaps without getting any touches. The Giants utilized a three-running-back system featuring Harris, Tracy, and Devin Singletary, yet surprisingly, their leading rushers were quarterback JJ McCarthy and wide receiver Darnell Mooney. Harris expressed frustration over the difficulty of establishing a rhythm due to limited play opportunities. He has managed 99 rushing yards on 31 carries this season, significantly below his previous performance levels as a first-round pick.
